This position statement provides evidence-based recommendations for developing and implementing an EAP for sports settings.

This manuscript describes the extent of emergency action plan adoption across U.S. athletic training practice settings based on recommendations from the 2024 NATA Position Statement and provides a valuable contemporary benchmark for evaluating evidence-based EAP implementation. This manuscript is currently “in press” meaning that it has been accepted and a raw, unedited version is put online for immediate view – but has to be edited and formatted for publication.

This manuscript describes the extent of EAP adoption in secondary school athletics with AT services in the US – these recommendations were based on the 2002 Position Statement and provide a valuable preliminary benchmark for EAP adoption.
